The project was with a large American nonprofit tobacco control organization, dedicated to achieving a culture where all youth and young adults reject tobacco. They investigate, expose and amplify the truth about tobacco through groundbreaking research and policy studies, award-winning truth campaigns, community activism, and engagement, and innovation to end tobacco use.
The Challenge
They needed help on a free digital resource that helps tobacco users quit. This resource includes an active social community, text, and email messaging support, expert guidance and interactive quitting tools.
The challenge included 2 different projects:
1) Determine whether a user is actually sponsored by the interacting entities or not.
2. Finish the migration of the user application to a new programming language.
What we did
In a joint partnership with a US software development firm we:
1) Created a microservice, particularly focusing on the development of the robust ETL process required to import files with millions of rows, following customized and dynamic configurations to match the sponsor’s expectations.
2) Work on the client’s user-facing product. We assisted in continuing the migration of the PHP project to Python while using a context manager to allow administrators to update the page’s contents.
Results & Takeaways
Our contribution to the project allowed the users to have a better, faster, and more efficient experience in their process while quitting tobacco.
