Verified Planet’s technology is designed to secure lab samples and sensitive materials, including blood samples, human embryos, viruses, and any organic or chemical samples from the moment they are collected and tagged through their time being transported, processed, stored, reported, and ultimately returned to the patient.
The company’s technology is designed to prevent human error, positively affect diagnosis, improve patient–lab interactions, verify medical procedures, and save money and lives.
The Challenge
The process of IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) is very delicate. Sample mix-ups and misplacements can occur. Verified Planet needed a solution that involved tagging container samples, patients, and authorized personnel to keep every IVF cycle closed, managed and verified using a specialized device to open and close containers, as well as scanning personnel and patient tags.
What we did
The solution was a two-parter: first, a Django web app to handle personnel and patient administration and registration. This was presented through an API to handle cycles, containers, personnel and patients.
The other part, was a React app to handle the user interface with the Device to handle samples. The device uses an RFID reader to scan personnel, patient and containers and make requests to the API to authorize and get the cycle information a procedure, step by step.
Results & Takeaways
This project resulted in a device that is ready to make lives easier. We took care of the Software, contributing with a robust app to manage complex Hardware that is ready to prevent life-changing problems in the delicate world of healthcare.
